Public Private Partnerships (PPPs) are being widely used as a procurement method by Governments all over the world. The objective of such partnerships is to better serve the public through partnering arrangements with private sector.
The Government of Sindh has enacted a PPP Law in 2010. It has been drafted to supplement the legal and regulatory framework for PPPs and to assist both the private and the public sectors in implementing this innovative procurement methodology.
A central PPP Unit was established in the Finance Department to assist the PPP Policy Board in promotion and development of Public-Private Partnerships in the Province. Besides, the PPP Unit assist government agencies in liaison with consultants, overall procurement process and execution of projects to be undertaken in PPP mode.
